The Top Ten UK Personal Finance Blogs

Miss Thrifty20 May 30, 2009

This is one of those posts in which I say “stuff it”, and cast all modesty aside. Media intelligence company Cision has published a list of the Top Ten UK Personal Finance Blogs – and I’ve made the cut! I’m pretty chuffed.

Here’s the list in full:

THE TOP TEN UK PERSONAL FINANCE BLOGS

With the UK in a deepening recession, it is no surprise that blog readers are in favour of money saving tips. Our Top 10 Personal Finance list indicates the keen interest in personal stories through this recession, with FruGal, Recessionista and Miss Thrifty all offering their own accounts of life on a budget while offering useful advice.

Combining visitor, search and social metrics with in-house expertise, Cision identifies the most read, most discussed and most influential names in the UK personal finance blogosphere.

1. Times Online – Money Central

2. Motley Fool

3. The Miss Thrifty Blog

4. Plonkee Money

5. MoneyHighStreet

6. Martin Lewis’s Blog

7. FruGal

8. Money Watch UK Personal Finance Blog

9. Money Hospital

10. Recessionista UK

The workings-out are rather mysterious – I am surprised to find Miss Thrifty above Martin Lewis’s Blog, as I’m sure that Martin Lewis has a ton more traffic and “influence” than I do – and a couple of top notch UK personal finance blogs are conspicuous by their absence.

At the same time it’s great to see some old friends and favourites on the list: hello FruGal and Recessionista Sister! I am also having fun checking out some of the other blogs on the list; I’ve just added Money Watch to my reader.

I have noticed that you don’t get a prize for being on a list like this, but you do get sent many more press releases.

Holy crap, that is amazing! Half of me thinks that it must have been a REALLY rainy day – and half of me thinks that you are a genius.

I may blog about this one, if that’s okay with you…

Thanks and best wishes,

Thanks for adding me to your reading! I’ve been a little light on posts recently (been getting married, honeymooning!), but hopefully will start to sort that soon.

I think alot of people have something against the money saving website, perhaps its to do with Martin himself i dunno! He does have a following though!

Another website missed is http://www.moneyroadshow.co.uk/forum/

Its a huge website will quite a following so unsure as to why they snubbed it!

I just discovered this post, so apologies for the delayed comment. Great list! Wonderful to find a lot of these brilliant bloggers on Twitter, too. Hope to see all 10 there one day. Many thanks!

Miss T I am glad you re above Mr Lewis, who despite all his consumer champion stuff, has a site from what I can see is one huge affiliate site, with links to so many companies in every possible.I have no problem with affiliate links, but Mr Lewis has done a great job for himself first and then his readers second.

I am going to have a look around your site to see if i can get some top tips for my own blog “MONEYOGRAPHY” (www.moneyography.com) which I doubt even got a whiff of being in the TOP 1000 best sites 🙁

Good to see an inclusion of the Motley Fool! Do not forget the Money Talk Podcast either, which I have on my mp3 player right now. Although it deals specifically with investments, there’s something valuable in listening to people talk about world economics in general.

Great list. I loveMotley Fool’s stock videos, and their watchlist is invaluable.

More people should be prudent enough in spending money for this Christmas season. I advice to avail the short term loans then pay it when your bonus arrived. Usually bonuses are release at last minute and it is an SOP of company for employees can work also up to the last minute. It is a smart savings when you buy things earlier as the value is even lower compare to last minute shopping that will give you no choice and you will wake up in the morning that all your money has gone with the wind as you never planned and utilized your money as well.
