Would-be advertisers, please take note…

Halifax, a long-standing Miss Thrifty advertiser, recently sent me a new sidebar widget to replace the old one that’s been on the site since 2009.

As regular readers know, I’m a terrible snot when it comes to the ads I’ll take on this site. I get so many would-be advertisers who want to shift high-interest loans, credit cards and other products completely unsuited to a site dedicated to saving money… But a savings tool? Now that’s something I am more than happy to shout about. Bring it on!

This new savings calculator will help you work out how long it will take to save a given amount, and how much you need to save every month to reach your goal. It can also show you what your savings will be worth after a set period, although given the somewhat lacklustre interest rates available to savers at the time of writing, don’t expect to feel too cheered by the results…
