Free Positive Thoughts: Take One!

Miss Thrifty12 June 6, 2013

If you enjoy making other people smile as much as you enjoy free stuff, I have the perfect freebie for you.

I was walking to work in Harrogate, when I came across this poster taped to a lamp-post:

free positive thoughts

Free Positive Thoughts: Take One. I love love LOVE this  idea! And on a grey, chilly work day here in town, the free thoughts were clearly popular. I tore off the last-but-one positive thought, and left the last slip of paper flapping in the wind, waiting and ready to cheer up another passerby. I have no idea who stuck that poster there, but it did its stuff: I had a spring in my step all the way to work.

A little digging and I found the original poster, over at an American blog called Kind Over Matter:

It is a couple of years old now, so I am stoked that the poster has crossed the Atlantic and is still reaching new people. It is a free printable, and you can download the PDF by clicking this link. In the words of its creator: “Just print on text paper, cut up the dashed lines & hang!”

It turns out that there are other posters in this free printable range:

The good citizens of North Yorkshire may see a few more of these springing up around the place….

A little positive thinking goes a long way. It is amazing how it can change your life. It did for me a very long time ago when I was in my 20s.

What a fabulous idea!

I will have to print a few of these out and start leaving them in random places across Somerset 🙂

That’s a really nice idea and would really help cheer up people’s moods for the day 🙂 Maybe I should print one and stick it up in the office!

When I was in Montreal a couple of years ago a guy was drawing huge crowds, all waiting in line to receive his Free Hugs.
One by one, adults and kids lined up for a hug. Some threw money into his hat afterwards, others didn’t. They all got a hug anyway. It’s always stayed with me.

This is just so lovely! I’ve just moved to Spain where the economic crisis is biting very deep – I’m sure people here could use a little random cheering up (well, those that can read English, haha!). I’ll be printing a few versions off tomorrow and popping some sheets around the place. Thanks!

As others have said, really good idea. There’s plenty of doom and gloom around lately and most people walk around with a frown on their face, so it’s nice to see something unique – albeit small – that can help lift the mood!

Aesop the great Greek storyteller once said, “No act of kindness, no matter how small ever is ever wasted” This best captures that wisdom. Its heartwarming and something we should practice more often. Thanks for sharing!

Ok, it may be Yorkshire (rather than Lancs where I’m from), but just goes to show how warm us northerners are compared to you stern southerners 🙂
