Make Your Own Floor Cleaner – I Do!

We ran out of floor cleaner so I’ve started making my own, out of some of the old-fashioned tricks and treats that now grace my cleaning cupboard. It costs pennies and works just as well as the relatively expensive, chemical equivalent. The tiled floors also seem to dry more quickly, although I don’t know why that is.
Here is the recipe (if you can call it that):
1. A slosh of white vinegar in the mop bucket.
2. A little squirt of washing-up liquid.
3. Around half a cup of borax. (Borax and 5 litre bottles of white vinegar are both available at low cost from Summer Naturals.)
4. Fill the mop bucket with warm water and give it a swirl.
5. Off you go, Mr/Mrs Mop!
If you try this one, let me know how you get on…

Great idea!
Another way to avoid chemical cleaners, is to use e-cloths – they really do work on their own.

I tried this yesterday in my kitchen – needed to add a bit of elbow grease, but results were brilliant on all these surfaces – vinyl flooring, ceramic tiles, wooden cupboards and ‘fridge and washing machine.
Will now experiment on paintwork and stainless steel.
So many thanks for the ‘recipe’.
