I’ll make no bones about it: I have been living in the pair of black Ugg boots sent to me by Whooga for review, I have nothing but praise to heap upon them – and I am delighted to be launching another giveaway for a lucky lucky reader to win a pair.

Five reasons why these boots have knocked my socks off:

1. Warmth. The merino sheepskin lining the boots is twice as thick as that of “standard” ugg boots. They are keeping my feet very warm and very dry over this cold, wet Yorkshire autumn.

2. Comfort. They fit snugly. Another advantage of this super-plush sheepskin is that my feet don’t get cold – but don’t get too hot, either.

3. Sturdiness. The boots are supposed to be especially resistant to punctures and tears. I can’t speak to that, as I haven’t had them long enough, but they certainly seem more… well, robust than the cheapie uggs from discount shoe shops and supermarkets. They feel sturdy – perhaps because they’re so thick – and are keeping their shape well.

As you may have noted, there’s a theme there: saving energy. British Gas recently ran a survey, which discovered that although 74% of people were likely to spring clean this year, just 21% were likely to make any energy saving improvements. This, despite the potential savings of £322 per household. It has now dedicated a section of its website to energy-saving tips.
