Bride2Bride: one way to save money on your wedding day

Sophie from Bride2Bride got in touch to ask if I’d take a look at their website – and I think it’s a brilliant idea. Bride2Bride is a free wedding classifieds site, where used and new wedding dresses, bridesmaids’ dresses and all the wedding accessories you could possibly imagine are bought and sold.

It is free to buy and sell on Bride2Bride and, despite launching less than a year ago, the website has really taken off. I really, really wish that Bride2Bride had been around when I was planning my thrifty wedding – the time I spent trawling through rubbish on eBay would have been slashed! Sophie, who launched the site with her husband, says:

“I had the idea for the Bride2Bride while planning our wedding in 2010, when I realised that there wasn’t an easy, free way to buy and sell wedding items. I had in my mind a vision of exactly how I wanted such a website to work, but I just couldn’t find it anywhere – available sites either weren’t dedicated to weddings, charged to use them or both!”

To give you an idea of what’s available on the site: in the past two days, 12 wedding dresses have been listed on Bride2Bride. They range from a new, cream wedding dress for £100, posted by Donna in Walsall, to a used, Enzoani gown for £1,000, posted by Toni in Accrington. As regular readers will know, I’m a fan of second-hand wedding dresses. (My own wedding dress had a previous owner… in the 1920s!)

One thing I like about Bride2Bride is that a lot of the brides who list items also include pictures from their own wedding days, so you get a good feel for what the dresses, veils and accessories look like off the hangers.
