I just did the same thing - went to wash my floors and had no cleaner. I didn't have white vinegar, but had malt vinegar.

Put a bit of malt vinegar in the bucket. Added a heaped teaspoon of baking soda (frothed all up), then added a whole jug of boiling water. A drip of washing up liquid..

I have cream ceramic tiles - they came up like new, and it was really easy to get the grime off. No smell.

Will do this again - but will make sure I have white vinegar in my pantry from now on!

I tried this yesterday in my kitchen - needed to add a bit of elbow grease, but results were brilliant on all these surfaces - vinyl flooring, ceramic tiles, wooden cupboards and 'fridge and washing machine.
Will now experiment on paintwork and stainless steel.
So many thanks for the 'recipe'.

Great idea!

Another way to avoid chemical cleaners, is to use e-cloths - they really do work on their own.
