Frugal Grandma’s violets tip
From my Frugal Grandma:
These African violets are more than five years old and the reason why they are thriving (they are past their best in this picture and heading towards their yearly rest) is because they have never had anything other than rainwater.
Lots of people love these flowers, but lose them because they give them water from the tap or filter, which turns the leaves brown and poisons the plant.

I have had an african violet plant for 7 years, Seven!, including twice rescuing it after tossing it away, and it’s only bloomed for me once! If your grandma has any ideas, I sure want to hear them!

Gosh ! Fame at last…….sort of.
African Violets do not like sunshine, they like to live in fairly strong daylight with no draughts. They will sulk if you move them, and they don’t like to be lonely, they like quite a crowded pot, and they absolutely HATE to be overwatered, mine have been known to dry out (but not for long), the leaves have actually drooped and then revived after a little TLC.
I give them a treat and feed them about once a year.
