FRIDAY BARGAIN: energy-saving lightbulbs for next to nothing

Miss Thrifty5 August 8, 2008

Homebase is selling Philips energy saving light bulbs at a knockdown price: £1.49 for five. This is about a third of the regular price, and works out at just 30p per bulb. Save your outgoings and the planet at the same time – I like it.

The bulbs are 11W, equivalent to the 60W regular bulbs. You’ll find the multipacks by the Homebase tills.

Ooh thanks for this, not sure if I have a homebase near me but I’ll have a look!

Can you put these in regular light-fittings or do you need special ones? (Is that a stupid question…?)

Regular bayonet fittings! I think you can get the screw-in kind too.
